Filling: 1 pound hamburger 1 cup chopped onion 1 green pepper chopped 15 ounce can tomato sauce 28 ounce can cut up tomatoes 17 ounce can whole kernel corn 1/2 cup sliced olives 1 minced clove of garlic 1 tablespoon sugar 2 tablespoons chili powder dash black pepper 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Crust: 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal 2 cups of cold water 1/2 teaspoon chili powder salt to taste 2 cups water 1 tablespoon butter
Brown hamburger, onion and green pepper, drain. Add the remaining ingredients, except for the cheese. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes or until thickened. Add the cheese and stir until the cheese is melted.
Set this mixture aside.
Combine the cornmeal, salt, water and chili powder in another sauce pan. Cook on medium high until it becomes thick. Spread half of the cornmeal mixture on the bottom of a greased 9 x 9 pan. Add in the filling and top with the remaining crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Can top with 1/2 cup of cheese of your choice if desired.
