2 pounds pork spareribs, cut 1 1/2" 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 clove garlic 1/4 cup vinegar 3-4 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon karo syrup (optional) 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1/4 cup ketchup (optional)
If thickening is needed, add 1- 2 Tablespoon cornstarch diluted in water.
Preparation: Remove fat and cut spareribs into smaller pieces. Cut between bones. Brown spareribs in a skillet, season with salt and remove grease, if necessary. Add garlic and vinegar, stir, cover and steam for 5-10 minutes. Add sugar, Karo (optional), ketchup (optional) and soy sauce. Stir and cook another 5-10 mins. Add cornstarch thickening if needed. Serve with hot rice.
May add: pineapple, green peppers, tomato, onion and pickled scallions.
