Light berry sauce that can also be used to top cakes or ice cream.
Ingredients 1 cup water 1 cup sugar 1 pint hulled and quartered strawberries Small container whole blueberries Vanilla to taste
Directions Put 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in saucepan, add vanilla. Bring to boil, but stir occasionally to keep from burning. Add strawberries and blueberries (gently - avoid splashing of hot liquid!) and cook at a gentle boil for 10 minutes, (Watch out for popping berries!). Stir gently, again, to keep from burning. Will turn thicker the longer you cook, so only 10 minutes for right consistency! You may want to put a splatter screen over the saucepan!
