4 tablespoons butter 2 pounds beef cut into cubes 1 - 2 onions chopped 2 cups red wine or beef stock or 1 cup of each 2 tablespoons paprika salt and papper to taste 8 small potatoes cubed
Heat the butter in a large pot over medium high heat and brown the beef cubes on all sides. Add the onion and cook for 5 more minutes.
Add your liquid, paprika and seasonings. Reduce the heat and simmer over low heat covered for 2 hours.
Adding more liquid if necessary, you should end up with at least 1 cup of liquid. Add your potatoes and cook for 30 more minutes.
